Hisense has officially launched the Explorer X1 Pro, a new laser TV designed to turn living rooms into dedicated home cinemas. Unveiled in China on May 20, 2026, the device aims to bridge the gap between standard television sets and massive projector screens by offering sizes up to 120 inches.
Cinema-grade visuals and audio
The Explorer X1 Pro uses a tri-color laser engine—a light source that uses three distinct lasers to create a wider, more accurate range of colors. This engine produces a contrast ratio of approximately 3500:1, which is the difference between the darkest black and the brightest white the screen can show.
To keep the image consistent, Hisense uses a spectrum-selective structure. Think of this as a stabilizer for light; it ensures the brightness remains steady at 600 nits (a unit used to measure screen luminance) across the entire surface of the 100-inch model. However, users opting for the larger 120-inch version will see a slight drop in brightness to roughly 450 nits.
Color accuracy is a core focus for this model. It reaches 110% of the BT.2020 color gamut—an industry standard for ultra-high-definition color depth—ensuring colors look as vivid as they do in real life.
The audio experience is handled by a 6.1.2 format sound system. This configuration uses multiple channels to wrap sound around the listener, creating a sense of height and depth. The system includes "Screen Sound" technology and a dedicated Harman Kardon subwoofer to provide the low-end punch required for action movies.
Hardware and connectivity
Under the hood, the Explorer X1 Pro is powered by an MT9649 processor, supported by 4 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage. For gamers and media enthusiasts, the unit includes three HDMI 2.1 ports, which allow for 4K resolution at a 60 Hz refresh rate—meaning the screen updates 60 times per second to keep motion smooth.
Connectivity is rounded out with Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.4, ensuring high-speed wireless stability for streaming and peripherals.
Pricing and US availability
The device is currently available for order in China at two primary price points. The 100-inch model is priced at 34,999 yuan, while the 120-inch version retails for 49,999 yuan. Some Chinese retailers have reported even lower effective prices following local subsidies and trade-in programs.
For US consumers, the wait will continue. As of May 20, 2026, Hisense USA has not announced a release date or retail availability for the Explorer X1 Pro in the United States. While Hisense showcased various laser and LED products at CES 2026, this specific model was not included in their US lineup.
