Lenovo's Legion Go 2 handheld PC has seen its U.S. retail price jump to $1,999 for the top end model, a $650 increase over the previous listing.
The base version now costs $1,499, up $400 from its launch price. The change appeared on major retailers such as Best Buy, where the 16 GB RAM/1 TB storage configuration is listed at the new $1,499 level.
This price shift matters for gamers who counted on the original $1,099 launch price. A higher cost narrows the appeal of a portable PC that promised console grade performance at a competitive price point.
Tech communities quickly flagged the sudden jump. Blogger Wario64 and multiple Reddit threads highlighted the sharp rise, noting that some buyers had purchased the device at the launch price just days earlier.
The numbers tell the story: the standard model climbed from $1,099 to $1,499, while the premium variant with an AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme CPU, 32 GB RAM, and 1 TB storage rose from $1,349 to $1,999. Lenovo has not yet released an official statement regarding the price changes.
A SteamOS preinstalled version is scheduled for a June launch. When announced in January, that model was priced at $1,199, though no official update has confirmed whether it will maintain that price point.
For anyone eyeing a handheld gaming PC, the Legion Go 2's sudden price hike highlights the importance of timing. Early adopters who purchased during the launch window secured significantly lower prices, while those who waited now face a device priced closer to mid range laptops.
