Nvidia rolls out DLSS 4.5, 6× boost on RTX 50-series

Nvidia has announced DLSS 4.5, introducing dynamic frame generation that scales up to 6× on RTX 50‑series graphics cards, a system designed to match high‑refresh‑rate displays while maintaining image quality.

Gamers with 120 Hz, 144 Hz, or 240 Hz monitors can now achieve smoother motion without sacrificing visual quality, as the technology generates precisely the number of frames needed to reach each display's peak refresh rate.

Nvidia's product team explained that the new Dynamic Multi‑Frame Generation technology adjusts frame output in real time based on scene complexity, delivering consistent performance across demanding titles. In graphically intense moments such as explosions or crowded environments the system generates additional frames to maintain smoothness, then scales back during quieter gameplay to conserve power and reduce heat.

The company also highlighted a second‑generation Super Resolution model built on Transformer AI architecture that improves sharpness across all RTX cards, not just the latest 50‑series.

The dynamic multiplier can reach 6× when GPU load is highest, while less‑intensive scenes may run at a reduced factor to conserve power and reduce heat. Early beta users reported up to a 45% boost in average frames per second on supported games such as ARC Raiders and Marvel Rivals, with the most noticeable improvements appearing on 240 Hz displays.

Nvidia plans to roll out DLSS 4.5 features to the broader RTX lineup through driver update version 595.97 WHQL or newer, available now via the Nvidia App beta. As the technology matures, future titles are expected to adopt dynamic frame generation as a standard option, offering gamers a choice between traditional rendering and AI‑enhanced performance. For context on Nvidia's broader AI‑driven graphics strategy, see Nvidia's defense of DLSS 5 as neural rendering.
