Clicks Technology launched two physical-keyboard devices ahead of CES: a $499 BlackBerry-style smartphone called Communicator and a $79 magnetic slide-out keyboard that attaches to phones, tablets, and TVs. Pre-orders for the Power Keyboard start January 2; Communicator deposits open now through February 27.

Clicks has shipped keyboards to customers in more than 100 countries, proving that users will pay premium prices to type on physical keys instead of glass. CEO Adrian Li calls Communicator "a natural evolution" of that demand, targeting professionals who currently carry separate work and personal devices.

Communicator blocks Instagram, TikTok, and games entirely—running only Gmail, Slack, WhatsApp, and Telegram on Android 16. The company partnered with Niagara Launcher to strip out distractions, focusing the device on communication rather than consumption. Users juggling two phones can consolidate email, messaging, and calendar management into one distraction-limited device while maintaining a separate phone for social media and entertainment.

A customizable LED strip called Signal Light runs along the Communicator's side, letting users assign colors to specific contacts or apps. Set purple for your boss, green for family group chats, red for calendar alerts—you identify who's reaching out without unlocking the screen. A dedicated Prompt Key captures voice notes and dictates messages, though AI integration remains unreleased.

Touch-sensitive keys scroll through messages and feeds without lifting a finger to the screen. The device ships with Android 16 and five years of security updates, a 4,000 mAh silicon-carbon battery, 50MP rear camera with optical image stabilization, 256GB storage expandable to 2TB via microSD, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. It measures 5.2 inches tall and weighs 6 ounces. Interchangeable back covers in Smoke, Clover, and Onyx swap aesthetics without adding bulk.

The $79 Power Keyboard magnetically attaches to any MagSafe or Qi2 device, including phones, tablets, smart TVs, and AR/VR headsets. Multiple slider positions accommodate different screen sizes in portrait or landscape orientation. Early-bird pricing runs through February; full retail will be $109. The Power Keyboard ships in spring 2025.

Communicator early-bird deposits of $199 toward the $399 discounted price close February 27. Standard pricing is $499. The device is expected to ship later this year, testing whether productivity gains and distraction elimination justify premium pricing in a touchscreen-dominated market.
