Google launches Gemini 3‑powered AI Overview on mobile

Google has updated AI Overview in its mobile Search app with Gemini 3 integration and a new conversational interface, the company announced. The feature is now available on iOS and Android with support for Russian language.

What changed: AI Overview on mobile devices now uses Gemini 3 by default and offers a simplified interface that allows users to ask follow-up questions directly within the AI Overview card. The transition from regular search to the AI chatbot is designed to be seamless.

How it works: Instead of separate search results and chat interfaces, users can now engage in multi-turn conversations within a single card. After receiving an initial AI-generated answer, you can ask follow-up questions without opening new tabs or switching to a different app.

What Google says: According to the company's announcement, the update creates "a single, dynamic interface with handy links for further exploration: a quick overview when you need it, and a deeper discussion when you want it."

"So the next time you have a question, find the nearest Google search bar and just ask any question," Google stated.

Availability: The update is available now in the Google mobile app for iOS and Android. The AI Mode feature also works in Russian, marking an expansion of language support for Google's conversational search capabilities.

Context: This update represents Google's continued effort to integrate conversational AI directly into its core search product, competing with standalone AI chatbots by embedding similar functionality within the search experience users already access daily.
