Capcom orders GrizzoUK to delete 1,004 videos

Capcom sent YouTuber GrizzoUK a cease and desist letter demanding he delete 1,004 videos from his channel, including Resident Evil playthroughs featuring nude mods and numerous Street Fighter uploads. The letter, which GrizzoUK shared during a livestream, represents a significant corporate enforcement action against modded gaming content.

The takedown notice targeted 1,004 videos that comprised a substantial portion of GrizzoUK's view count, triggering multiple YouTube strikes for explicit content. According to the creator, the removal resulted in hits to discoverability, ad eligibility, and long term channel performance. When content is removed at this scale, YouTube's algorithm can penalize future uploads, affecting view counts and recommendations.

A Capcom representative previously stated during a technical lecture that game mods are essentially equivalent to cheats. GrizzoUK references that comment as potential context for this enforcement action. The position equates cosmetic modifications with actual game exploits and appears to inform Capcom's approach to modded content on streaming platforms.

GrizzoUK claims he was the only creator targeted for NSFW mods, despite numerous other creators producing similar content. He sent a follow up email to Capcom asking why he was specifically selected but received no response. Without transparency from Capcom, it remains unclear whether this was an isolated action or part of a broader enforcement campaign against modded gaming content.

GrizzoUK successfully appealed the YouTube strikes but warns that his future view counts will likely suffer significantly. According to the creator, the damage is algorithmic rather than purely legal. He is now cautioning other creators that producing content with explicit mods carries increased risk of similar enforcement action from publishers.

The incident raises questions about the boundaries between fair use of purchased games, creator freedom, and publisher intellectual property rights in the gaming content ecosystem.
