Sony will raise prices for most PlayStation consoles in the U.S., effective April 2, 2026, citing ongoing component shortages.

Memory chips store game data and drive system performance. Ongoing shortages have pushed chip costs up, prompting Sony to adjust prices across most of its console lineup.

The latest hike follows an August 21, 2025 increase that took the Disc model to $549.99, the Digital Edition to $499.99, and the PS5 Pro to $749.99, according to Sony's blog.

New U.S. MSRP as of April 2026:

  • Disc model: $599.99 (up $50)
  • Digital Edition: $499.99 (no change)
  • PS5 Pro: $899.99 (up $150)

The handheld PlayStation Portal will also see a price bump, bringing increases to multiple products in Sony's gaming lineup.

Sony outlined the change in its 2024 product announcement, which had set the Pro's launch price at $699.99. Similar increases are rolling out in Europe, the United Kingdom, and Japan.

Analysts say the higher price tags could influence shoppers' choices for upcoming game releases, forcing consumers to weigh upgrades against tighter budgets.
